A
Tech Note at Apple's website notes a problem with QuickTime 2.5 and Mac OS 8.0 (or 8.1). Computers crash when playing QuickTime from an ISO-9660 CD-ROM.

If the movies are dragged to the hard drive first or played from a standard Macintosh format CD, they work correctly. Using system software 7.6.1 or earlier, the problem doesn't occur.

This problem is now fixed in QuickTime 3, and upgrading is the suggested fix.
