Inc is shipping the production version of its
Effetto Pronto Digital Video Effects and
Compositing System for the Macintosh platform.
Effetto Pronto, which means "fast effects" in
Italian, is designed for users who wish to add 3D
special effects, titles and layering to their
productions. Designed to be platform-independent,
it includes the Effetto QuickTime-based compositing
software and Pronto, a dedicated PCI effects
processing engine. Effetto Pronto includes the PCI
Card and Software for a U.S. suggested retail price
of $4,995. An optional daughter-card for output to
NTSC or PAL monitors will retail for a suggested
U.S price of $495.

Software Boris FX is a software plug-in
for desktop non-linear editing systems that enables
you to create 3D special effects and is available
for the following systems: Avid Media

FX 3.5 delivers fifteen new filters, including
Particle Systems, Directional/Gaussian blurs,
Linear Keys, Spill Supression and Posterize. Other
enhancements include support for images using
non-square pixels and a vertically resizable
timeline that allows "ripple dragging" of
keyframes.

Terran
Interactive is marketing a color enhancement
application for digital video developed by Delta
E called VideoPrism. Available first for
the Mac OS, VideoPrism is due to ship 4Q '98 with
an estimated street price of $159.
VideoPrism
allows users to give video clips any desired color
"look" or "effect," or to correct color or lighting
problems within existing clips. Users can customize
settings or use any of numerous presets. Results
are available immediately in the product's
full-motion preview.

Media
100 Inc has an exclusive worldwide distribution
agreement with Puffin Designs to distribute
as well as bundle with select Media 100 systems,
Commotion LE, a new paint and effects tool
for video and digital media artists. Commotion LE
will be exclusively available through Media 100's
global distribution channel and will be bundled
with all Media 100 qxc, le, and lx digital video
systems at no additional cost to the end
user.
Commotion
LE includes many of the features in Puffin's
Commotion package including real-time paint over
time, full motion D1 resolution playback (up to 720
x 486 NTSC, 720 x 576 PAL) and effects
capabilities.
Commotion
LE will be available through Media 100's worldwide
distribution channel for $795 USD beginning in
October, 1998. Upgrades to the full-featured
Commotion product will also be available from Media
100 for $1,895 USD.

ICE,
maker of desktop video and film finishing products
(specifically an effects acceleration board), has
acquired Final Effects Complete (FEC) video
special effects software including all intellectual
property rights from MetaCreations Corporation for
an undisclosed sum. ICE also has announced plans to
deliver an accelerated or "ICE'd" FEC product in
the fourth quarter of 1998.
FEC
includes over 60 filters or plug-ins for use with
major desktop compositing applications such as
Adobe After Effects.
