NEWS

iMovie
Apple has made available for free download the DV editing application iMovie, which was previously only available bundled with iMacs. A CD version is also available for US$19.99 by calling 800-293-6617

While they say that it is only for G4's and G4 PowerBooks, it appears to run fine with any recent Mac (i.e. G3 or better) running OS 8.6, QuickTime 4.1, and with Firewire (actually, it seems to work without Firewire, but what you can do with it is somewhat limited if you don't have Firewire capabilities!) It may or may not work with third party Firewire cards.

A new release (iMovie 2.0) is expected to be announced soon. I suspect that the new release will be available as an "upgrade" to this release.
