Apr 5, 2000 Here and There Cyclovision, makers of a 360 degree panoramic lens, have changed their name to Remote Reality. It also seems that they have changed their business model. Whereas before they simply sold the lens for $999, it now appears that they are selling the lens for a lower price, but charging per image to use the software that turns the images into panoramas. I'm not too sure of the details (and the companies website is a bit vague and lacks actual price information at the moment.)
FlashPoint Technology Inc., creators of the Digita operating system for digital cameras and printers, have announced Digita Post, a software application that allows users to transmit digital photos wirelessly from Digita-enabled cameras. Digita Post runs inside the camera and lets users send e-mails that incorporate text, sound and images using a data-enabled cellular phone.
Kodak will manufacture and sell digital image frames that connect to Weave's StoryBox Network. The product will let people share pictures among frames and order prints directly from Kodak. The frame will also display pictures stored in its own memory or on a CompactFlash card. By subscribing to the StoryBox Network, people can link their digital cameras and frames into a network for viewing and sharing pictures without a personal computer. The StoryBox platform consists of the StoryBox Connected Frame and the StoryBox Network. The StoryBox Connected Frame is a digital picture frame with a color display, local storage for up to 36 pictures, and a modem connected to the Internet. The StoryBox Network is a network for viewing and sharing pictures with or without a personal computer.
