Mar 2, 2000 Some 3D news: NodeSaVR & Just3D Squamish Media Group has just released NodeSaVR 1.0, a tool that takes apart multinode QuickTime VR movies and saves each node as a separate movie. It also converts all link hotspots into URL hotspots and generates HTML files. For those not familiar with QuickTime VR, multinode movies are a single file that contains mutliple QuickTime VR images, linked together. They make for a great self-contained 3D experience, but they are also large. Splitting them into individual files makes more sense for web delivery. NodeSaVR has an introductory price of $99. While you are at their site, check out another interesting tool: MapSaVR. This tool let's you combine a 2D map with a multinode QuickTime VR movie to improve the navigation within the scene. And playback is entirely within a QuickTime VR. I'd heard about this tool but never seen the playback. This is very cool! www.smgVR.com/nodesavr/exthree/Node1.html
Just3D.com Finally, Just3D was launched yesterday and describes itself as the No.1 Resource for FREE 3D on the web! They hope to become "the ultimate FREE 3D resource for all types of people interested in 3D computer graphics." It looks like it's worth taking a look at.
