Wallace
& Gromit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Fans of the Wallace & Gromit series should get to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts before June 21, 1998 to see "An Adventure with Wallace & Gromit." This exhibition includes original production sets, plasticine figures, and story boards, as well as a short video demonstrating the making of the movies. The three movies starring the plasticine duo "A Grand Day Out," "The Wrong Trousers," and "A Close Shave" are also being shown. Check out the MFA website for more information.
Notes
from the exhibition There are
some plasticine models, but many of the characters are
actually resin castings from the originals. There are also
story boards and descriptions of how the movies are made. A
short movie features interviews with the animators. While there are original sets and some plasticine figures, Wallace and Gromit appear only as resin castings. Given that it was close by, it was certainly worth going to see; if we lived outside the Boston area we're not sure we'd bother getting on a plane to come see it however! On a side
note, they were showing the movies in the museum movie
theater, which was the first time we'd seen the movies on
the big screen. This was really great; you could see the
finger marks in the plasticine, and I even managed to work
out how Gromit manages to shuffle the cards in A Grand Day
Out. If you haven't seen these movies on the big sceen you
should definitely try and do it! (The movies are also shown
in a smaller room at the exhibition on a TV.) One of the story boards on display.
